Autumn Moor Ornamental Grasses Description

Autumn Moor Grass is a compact, clump forming ornamental grass known for its elegant, low maintenance appeal. Its fine, arching foliage emerges a vibrant green and gradually matures to golden hues in autumn, adding seasonal warmth to the garden. From late summer to early autumn, it produces delicate silvery green flower spikes that rise gracefully above the foliage, creating soft movement and texture. Ideal for borders, rockeries, and naturalistic planting schemes, this grass brings year round interest with its semi evergreen foliage, which remains fresh in milder winters.

Reaching a modest height of 30 to 60 cm (1 to 2 feet) and forming dense, mounded clumps, Autumn Moor Grass is suitable for small or large gardens. It works beautifully in combination with perennials, other grasses, and ground covers, adding structure and subtle colour.

Pruning Advice

Tidy in Late Winter or Early Spring: Remove any dead or damaged foliage before new growth begins in early spring. This can be done by gently combing through the plant with your fingers or a rake or by cutting back the foliage to about 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4 inches) above the ground.

Minimal Pruning Needed: As a semi evergreen, this grass rarely needs hard pruning. Simply tidy up the plant as needed to maintain its neat, clump forming appearance.

Remove Flower Spikes: If preferred, spent flower spikes can be removed in autumn or left for winter interest and texture.
