Euonymus japonicus Jean Hugues Hedge Plants Description

Euonymus japonicus Jean Hugues is a dense, compact evergreen shrub ideal for garden borders and hedging. It is considered a promising alternative to traditional Box hedging, as it is resistant to box blight, a problem that Buxus can sometimes face. While box blight has never been reported by our customers, Euonymus Jean Hugues offers added peace of mind. Its dark green foliage remains vibrant throughout winter, making it perfect for parterres and formal hedging. This hardy plant provides year-round structure and is well-suited to a variety of garden styles.

Pruning Advice

This plant is easy to keep looking at its best. Euonymus Jean Hughes can be tip trimmed in May and tidied up again in September if required.

Further Information

Our recommended planting densities for each size and root type are detailed in the product grid. We advise using these recommendations as a guideline, considering the time frame you are willing to wait for your hedge to mature. As a general reference, bare root plants can be planted at densities ranging from 3 to 7 per metre, while cell-grown plants should be planted between 4 and 6 per metre. Higher densities may require planting in a double staggered row or a zig-zag pattern.
