Gracillimus Maiden Ornamental Grasses Description

Gracillimus Maiden Grass is an elegant ornamental grass renowned for its graceful, fine textured foliage and striking flower plumes. It is a deciduous, clump forming grass that typically reaches a height of around 1.5 to 2 metres (5 to 6.5 feet) and forms a dense, upright mound. Its slender, arching green leaves create a soft, flowing effect in the garden, making it an excellent choice for adding texture and movement. In late summer, it produces feathery, silvery pink flower plumes that mature to a soft, tan colour by autumn, providing visual interest into the winter months.

Pruning Advice

Cutting back: In late winter or early spring, cut back the old foliage to ground level before the new shoots begin to grow. This helps promote fresh growth and maintains its tidy appearance. You can use shears or a hedge trimmer for this task.

Maintenance: Although it is relatively low maintenance, it is important to keep an eye on its base to ensure that it does not become too congested. Removing any dead or damaged growth during the growing season helps keep the plant looking its best.
