Golden Dew Tufted Hair Ornamental Grasses Description

Golden Dew Tufted Hair Grass is a charming and compact ornamental grass, renowned for its elegant form and shimmering golden flower heads. This hardy perennial forms neat, dense clumps of fine, arching green foliage that serve as the perfect backdrop for its airy blooms. The delicate, feathery flower heads emerge in late spring to early summer, taking on a golden hue that creates a dewy, ethereal effect, particularly when caught in sunlight. These blooms persist into autumn, offering extended seasonal interest.

Versatile and low maintenance, Golden Dew Tufted Hair Grass thrives in a range of garden settings, from traditional borders to naturalistic or wildlife friendly planting schemes. It adds texture, light, and movement to the garden, making it a valuable addition for gardeners seeking an understated yet impactful plant.

Pruning Advice

Cutting Back: In late winter or early spring, before new growth begins, cut back the old flowerheads and any dead or damaged foliage to ground level. This promotes fresh growth and keeps the plant tidy.

Deadheading: Flowerheads can be left on the plant to mature into decorative seed heads for winter interest or cut back in late summer if a neater appearance is preferred.

Division: Every 2 to 3 years, divide the clumps in spring or autumn to rejuvenate the plant and prevent overcrowding. Dividing also provides an opportunity to propagate the plant and extend its presence in the garden.

General Maintenance: Remove any yellowing or damaged foliage throughout the year to maintain the its appearance.

Further Information
