Ingwersen Lilyturf Ornamental Grasses Description

Ingwersen Lilyturf is a hardy, clump forming perennial that offers year round appeal with its lush, evergreen foliage and seasonal bursts of colour. It features arching, dark green, strap like leaves that provide a neat and tidy appearance, making it an excellent choice for ground cover or garden borders. In late summer and early autumn, it produces slender, upright spikes of purple lavender flowers, which rise gracefully above the foliage. These are followed by small, dark purple black berries, adding further seasonal interest.

This versatile plant grows to a height of approximately 30 to 40 cm (12 to 16 inches) with a similar spread, making it suitable for small gardens, shaded areas, or as part of mixed planting schemes.

Pruning Advice

Pruning: In late winter or early spring, cut back old or damaged foliage to about 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4 inches) to allow fresh growth to emerge. This helps maintain its tidy appearance and promotes vigour.

Watering: Water regularly during dry spells, particularly in the first year after planting. Once established, it is moderately drought tolerant.

Feeding: Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring to encourage healthy growth and flowering.

Division: Divide clumps every 2 to 3 years in spring or autumn to prevent overcrowding and propagate new plants.
