Flamingo Maiden Grass is a compact ornamental grass known for its graceful, arching foliage and striking seasonal blooms. It forms a dense, clump like growth of narrow green leaves, which are subtly tinged with pink, providing a soft yet colourful addition to any garden. In late summer, delicate, feathery flower plumes emerge, starting off a rich silvery pink before maturing to a soft white by autumn. These flowers are particularly ornamental and persist through winter, adding visual interest even after the plant has died back. Its refined, airy habit makes it perfect for adding texture, movement, and a touch of elegance to borders, containers, or mass plantings.

Pruning Advice

Cutting Back: In late winter or early spring, cut back the old foliage to around 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 inches) from the ground to make way for new growth. This helps maintain its vigour and appearance.

Division: Every 3 to 4 years, divide the plant to maintain its health and prevent overcrowding. Early spring, before new growth begins, is the best time to divide and replant. This also helps propagate new plants.
