Berberis x stenophylla Hedging Plants Description

Berberis x stenophylla is an evergreen variety of Barberry, similar to Berberis darwinii and Berberis julianae. This plant features small, dark green, leathery leaves on elegant, arching branches. In spring, the stems are covered with fragrant, cup-shaped yellow flowers, while in autumn, they bear abundant blue-black berries that attract birds. Its sharp thorns and dense growth habit provide excellent roosting, hiding, and nesting sites for wildlife. Berberis x stenophylla performs best in sunlight but is also tolerant of shade. It thrives in a wide range of soils and conditions, including coastal areas, though it is not suitable for very wet or windy sites.
